Role Overview

Summary/Objective: The Business Development Manager is responsible for driving all early-stage pipeline performance across the department. From strategic territory management to outreach campaign development and execution to lead generation and top of funnel activity management this role assumes responsibility for driving the front-end of the growth pipeline for the company. As a manager, the BDM is responsible for coaching, development and performance management of Business Development Representative(s) who are measured on new opportunity creation and initial data received from prospective partners. Lastly, the BDM will partner with Business Development Directors on externally facing sales efforts with a focus on advancing early-stage pipeline to mid-stage pipeline. As needed, the BDM will complete initial in-take and qualification of new opportunities and will collaborate with the pro forma team and others to build initial proposals and slide decks for mid-stage presentations.

 

Essential Functions: 

  1. Manage BDR team to hit or exceed quarterly goals for new opportunity creation and data packets received.
  2. Partner with Marketing to design and execute monthly outreach campaigns for the purposes of BD lead generation.
  3. Coordinate all strategy and operations pertaining to top of funnel management (e.g., lead and incentives tracking, conference strategy, campaigns, monthly reporting, etc.)
  4. Partner with Directors of Business Development on hiring, training, coaching and development of Business Development Representatives (BDRs)
  5. Extend the bandwidth of Business Development Directors by supporting key sales activities at the early- and mid-stages of pipeline management.
  6. Lead initial in-take calls as needed on behalf of Directors and set up next steps for sales evaluation process
  7. Work with pro forma team and others to put initial proposals together into externally facing slide decks that Directors then present to prospective clients
  8. Oversee the completion of and response to RFPs
  9. Support Directors of Business Development on large, complex pipeline opportunities that require customized collateral, slide decks and/or special requests (e.g., client references)
  10. Assist Directors of Business Development in managing BD team sales operations as needed (e.g., go/no go meetings, Triad meetings, risk scorecard reviews, etc.)
  11. Support the Chief Growth Officer on trend analysis, territory management, reporting to the Board and other special projects as needed
  12. Promote NorthStar Anesthesia’s Core Values.
  13. Demonstrates regular, reliable and predictable attendance.
  14. Performs other duties as required.

  • Content for monthly outreach campaigns
  • Curated contact lists for campaigns
  • BDR incentive plans, performance plans and career vision documents
  • External pitch presentations with staffing models/pro formas
  • Customized slide decks for key sales meetings
  • RFP responses
  • Pipeline updates, growth dashboards and other management reports

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • 2+ years of experience as a BDR and/or client-facing BD role
  • Strongly prefer experience in the health care industry
  • Demonstrated ability to prospect new business via strategic outreach
  • Demonstrated ability to tightly manage the sales cycle
  • Ability to coach and manage others
  • Strong relationship building skills internally and externally
  • High level of organization skills and the ability to juggle multiple processes with minimal supervision
