Summary/Objective: Under the direction of the Director of Risk and Quality, the Risk and Quality specialist will play an essential role in the coordination, implementation, and evaluation of daily quality, risk and insurance operations, including but not limited to project support and coordination. 

*This position will be a hybrid role, working Tuesday and Wednesday in our Irving, TX office and remote office M, Th and Fri.*

Essential Functions:   

• Independently handles patient complaints and dental injuries, investigates and resolves same, ensuring accurate and complete documentation.
• Identifies and escalates PCEs to the Director.
• Track trends in patient care and escalate unusual patterns.
• Provide administrative support, when needed, to the Quality Committee, including minutes.
• Assist in Patient Safety Organization processes.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards.
• Coordinate and maintain Risk, Quality, and Insurance Programs per corporate initiatives.
• Manage insurance documentation, including policy renewals and updates.
• Collect, analyze, and report risk, quality, and insurance data securely.
• Ability to work under pressure and diplomatically have difficult conversations. 
• Ability to work under pressure and diplomatically have difficult and/or uncomfortable conversations with patients and clinicians while achieving the goal of reassurance with clinicians and service recovery with patients.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree, Healthcare Science or related. Preferred BSN or RN with relatable experience with quality improvement, infection control, employee health, accreditation and education.
• 2-3 years experience in patient complaint/grievance resolution required.
• 3 years of quality and risk management preferred.
• Recent experience in healthcare, quality improvement programs required. Experience with patient safety organization administration and outcome reporting preferred. 
• Comfortable and skilled at working with Physicians, CRNAs, health care providers and other stakeholders in the organization. Multistate practice experience preferred. 
• Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.  

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Proficiency in using Word, Excel, Outlook and Teams with the ability to quickly learn new software tools and risk management reporting systems.
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to be effective in getting task done while working through other people.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask.
