Summary/Objective: The Senior Payroll Specialist is responsible for executing timely and accurate payroll processes and updates. Under the direction of the Payroll Manager, the Senior Payroll Specialist will lead the full life cycle payroll activities for multi-states in the US. This person will also complete audits and resolve complex employee inquiries.

Essential Functions:
- Customer Service – Assist employees as needed through phone and email. Includes helping employees resolve payroll and tax issues or time-keeping questions. Troubleshoot problem areas they may be experiencing or not understanding. Building personal relationships with our employees assuring them their payroll needs are being met.
- Auditing of employee agreements, daily updates, and maintenance in preparation for bi-weekly payroll processing. i.e., W4, State Withholding, Direct Deposit information.
- Auditing of Workday changes for accuracy that comes across to payroll which includes but are not limited to compensation changes, job/data changes, benefits, and deduction information.
- Enter, track, and reconcile all manual payroll adjustments as needed.
- Calculation of pre-tax and post-tax deductions to determine taxable income and validation of taxes.
- Calculation of payroll taxes (Social Security, Medicare, Federal, etc.) and compensation, auditing of retro pay.
- Review of multi-state jurisdictions and set up of taxes for state and local jurisdictions.
- Partners closely with HR, Benefits, and Operation teams to ensure accurate payroll and to develop and improve processes.
- Assists the Payroll Manager with payroll-related actions during mergers & acquisitions.
- Provides the Payroll Manager and departments throughout the company with payroll information needed to carry out assigned responsibilities.
- Assist in the development and documentation of various Payroll initiatives designed to streamline the process and scale with the organization
- Prepare ad hoc reports as needed periodically to assist in management reporting.

Qualifications:
- 5+ years of multi-state experience in all areas of payroll processing, knowledge of tax laws, and general accounting practices.
- Associate degree in the field of Accounting or Business Administration
- An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
- Fluent in Workday payroll & timekeeping.
- Prefer prior ADP Wage Processing experience.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Certified Payroll Professional (CPP), desirable
- Strong functional capabilities with Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
- Multi-state payroll and payroll tax experience, required
- Experience in the healthcare industry is a plus
- Ability to work in a fast-paced and fluid environment
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Strong personal motivation with the ability to work with little supervision and attention to detail while working in a deadline-driven environment
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely across multiple levels within the company as well as between internal and external stakeholders.
